Description
Xylazine (“tranq”) is a synthetic substance used mainly to sedate and anaesthetise animals. It is very potent and its lethal dose is low. It turns up more and more often in mixtures with fentanyl and heroin, which raises the risk of a fatal overdose considerably. The xylazine test is a strip test with antibodies sensitive enough to detect xylazine at a concentration of 10 ng/ml.
The test comes in a hermetically sealed, single-use pouch with a hygroscopic silica gel sachet inside.
How to use the xylazine test?
METHOD 1
If you are testing an opioid or benzodiazepine pill, crush the whole pill in a plastic baggie and tip out the powder. Add 10 drops of water to the baggie and mix well. Dip the test strip no higher than the thick line. Wait 15 seconds. Put the strip aside and check it after 5 minutes.
METHOD 2
If you are testing a powder, dissolve 100 mg of the sample in 200 ml of water. Dip the test strip no higher than the thick line. Wait 15 seconds. Put the strip aside and check it after 5 minutes.
RESULT
1 line = xylazine detected, 2 lines = xylazine not detected. A faint line counts too.
A negative result does not guarantee that there is no xylazine. The test covers only the sample you prepared, and the substance can be spread unevenly through the material you are testing
